About us: The UCLA Cannabis Research Initiative (CRI) was formed in 2017 in response to the increased need to study the impact of cannabis on health and society. CRI is a strategic initiative to investigate the therapeutic potential and health risk of cannabis, with a focus on the interdisciplinary study of cannabis’s influence on society, including legal, economic, and social impact. The CRI provides timely education, research, and service to lead public policy and public health decisions regarding cannabis by bringing together investigators and scholars from 15 departments across UCLA’s campus. The UCLA Cannabis Research Initiative resides in the Jane and Terry Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. The Semel Institute, together with the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences of the David Geffen School of Medicine, in collaboration with other UCLA programs, provides an outstanding research and training environment in neuroscience.
