Roger Brown is the CEO and President of ACS Laboratory. In honor of last month’s National CBD Day, CBD World News contributor and cannabis journalist Heather Allman interviewed Roger about the state of the industry and ACS Laboratory’s role within it.

CBD World News: Tell me your perspective on the current mainstream madness of CBD. Why do you think the CBD industry has grown so quickly and exponentially since the 2018 Farm Bill?

Roger Brown: Consumers are excited about natural products. CBD from hemp represents a new entrance into the natural products field and it is federally legal since the Farm Bill execution in December 2018.

CWN: In your opinion, what are some of the ultimate benefits of the current CBD market’s rapid, expansive growth? Drawbacks?

RB: There are many advantages and a few drawbacks. Advantages are derived from quality products manufactured by quality-concerned companies. Drawbacks are derived from companies focused on making a profit without concern for the quality of their products or the efficacy of their labels.

CWN: What is the biggest challenge or barrier that remains in/concerning the CBD industry at large?

RB: Consistency of product, quality of manufacturing, and efficacy of the label claims remain the biggest challenges in the space. ACS Laboratory has many clients who are manufacturing consistent quality products that maintain the efficacy of their labels. If a manufacturer of CBD products wants a laboratory result that is inaccurate and conforms to their wants rather than the truth, ACS Laboratory is the wrong lab for them.

CWN: What is the biggest obstacle that you’ve professionally encountered concerning the CBD market?

RB: False laboratory reports.

CWN: Give me an example of your company’s solution to that specific challenge?

RB: ACS Laboratory always takes the high road. Our level of scientific prowess is far superior to typical cannabis testing labs, and we are creating the standard in the industry as the most trusted laboratory in the country.

CWN: What is one key element of your company’s plan to maintaining your existing high-caliber brand or ancillary service?

RB: ACS Laboratory prides itself on providing correct and quality results with a rapid turnaround time. Clients can depend on our lab to deliver for those high-quality manufacturers.
